Apologies for the brief hiatus.  Our officers just got back from the Key Club District Convention in Sacramento!  All of this year’s officers (Ashley, Thomas, Frank, Stephen, and Kevin) received awards, so congratulate them when you see them!

    Hello.

This weekend's event is on 3/6/10 (Saturday) from 9am – 12pm at Martin Luther King Junior Regional Shoreline (Oakland) with Save the Bay San Francisco.  It is where we will be doing all sorts of planting.  The goal is to plant 25,000 native seedlings for the whole community, so this is not the only area where the seedlings are being planted.  For more information, some of the officers will be meeting in room 15 this Thursday.

For the rest of the officers, and interested members, a mandatory meeting in P2 at lunch tomorrow is required by the PHS ASB charter.  Remember to bring some paper, a pencil/pen, and maybe a clipboard for notes.  They will be going over certain rules and guidelines to make sure that current clubs stay active.

Thanks and that's all, hope to see you tomorrow!

Meeting 11/12 → Tapioca Tuesdays, Pizza, and Laser Tag

November 11th, 2009 by Frank Yü

    Hey everyone!

So just a quick club news update. We’ve raised about 350 bucks and counting in our trick or treat for UNICEF campaign, a big improvement from last year. A few of our members went on that Key Club retreat last week and apparently actually had fun :O and Mulberry’s is letting us do Tapioca Tuesdays!

We’ll discuss a bunch of stuff at the meeting tomorrow. If you want to help out with Tapioca Tuesdays, please come in and we’ll give you a job (and service hours!) Also we’re thinking about doing a Habitat for Humanity build this Saturday. It’s one of the more fun service events out there (so fun, that you need to be at least 16 to do it, sadly).

On another note, the other Key Clubs in Alameda country and Contra Costa county plan to have a mass laser tagging affair on the 22nd of November. If you guys have nothing better to do that day, feel free to come out and meet Key Club people from other schools and have fun shooting them.

    Much Appreciation,
    Frank Yü

Meeting 10/29 → Trick or Treat for UNICEF, Fall Rally, Paediatric Trauma Prevention

October 28th, 2009 by Frank Yü

    Hey everyone!

So I guess here’s an update on what’s happened so far in the year. Fall rally at Great America was a pretty good success for us. We donated 1000 dollars to Paediatric Truama Prevention, four times more than all the other Key Clubs in Alameda County, so you can imagine we’re feeling pretty good about our service. Keep it up! We’ll also be working on setting up Tapioca Tuesdays soon to raise funds. Since the end of last year, our club has raised about 1500 or so dollars for service and we need ideas for good causes for which to donate! Feel free to send us suggestions on what cause might be worth donating to and other fundraising ideas. Remember, the time you spend on Key Club fundraisers counts for PHS community service credit, along with other things, so we’d love to hear any suggestions on possible fundraisers.

We’ll also be handing out those Trick-or-treat for UNICEF boxes. It’s a great way to get an easy few hours of service.

Anyways, feel free to show up to grab a slice of pizza, or to give us a suggestion for a service project and to pick up your UNICEF box! Thanks!

    Much Appreciation,
    Frank Yü

So feel free to drop in and grab a slice of pizza and a service opportunity! xD

Meeting 10/7 → RTO, Fall Rally North, and Prospective Officers

October 7th, 2009 by Frank Yü

    Hi!

So we’ve got a meeting tomorrow. We’ll discuss the logistics of the two major Rebuilding Together Oakland dates coming up on the 10th and the 17th, as well as details for Fall Rally at Great America on the 24th of October (that’s a Saturday).

Prospective officers: We’ll get all the details in about your positions and we’ll talk about the projects we have coming up (Relay for Life, Trick or Treat for UNICEF, fundraisers, Keyleader, Reading Buddies, Tapioca Tuesdays, etc.) and the various committees to be a part of.

Oh and there will be pizza again for two bucks a slice.

Hope to see you guys there. Once again, it’s Room 15, tommorow at lunch.

    Much Appreciation,
    Frank Yü
