Hey everyone,

Hope you all had a good Spring Break! DCON, district convention, was absolutely AMAZING!

We managed to take home a couple awards: Distinguished Club, an award for having a website and an award for turning in a whole plethora of paper work, credit on the paper work goes to Brian.

That was the end of the last key club year but instead of being inactive until next school year we jump right back in!

This weekend we will be volunteering at one of Oakland’s Easter egg hunts hosted at the Dunsmuir Mansion, if you went to winter-ball it’s the same place.

Jobs for volunteers include and are not limited to: Hiding eggs General Chaperon

Here is the website : http://www.dunsmuir-hellman.com/calendar.html

This event is not just our key club! we will be working hand in hand with other Key Clubs in the area along with other volunteers, all of whom will probably be around our age!

Come mix and mingle with various people from around Oakland and enjoy all that easter has to offer!

We will be meeting in front of the high school at 9:20 and hopefully we will leave by 9:30

the event last from 10:00-4:00 with snacks provided. It is highly recommended that you bring your own food as you may get hungry during the 6 hours we will be volunteering.

If you are interested please begin by asking your parents if they are interested in Driving us to and from the event, we will unable to serve the community without their gracious help. Then reply back to this email so we know you are coming along with if your parents can drive, and if they can, how many people you can take.

Well thats pretty much it for this week, enjoy your first week back at school!

Hello everybody hope you all had a good break!

Due to several factors we were unable to coordinate any events over the break and we’re sorry, but lets get back to it.

This weekend we will be cleaning up Lake Merrit. We will meet in front of the school at 9:30 please email back and tell us that your going or we might end up leaving you with no ride in front of the school and that would be no fun.

This year’s District Convention Meeting, hence forth DCON, will be the second weekend of spring break, April 15-17. This years location is a conference hall in Anaheim, thats the city with Disneyland, and to my understanding the hall is pretty much right next door to said theme park. We will hopefully be heading down a day early to fully enjoy the convenient location of the park and enjoy a day at Disneyland/California adventure on the 14th.

One thing to note for DCON is a 20 hour community service requirement, through us, to go. Here is a link to more information http://www.cnhkeyclub.org/events/district-convention

Hello everyone, last weekend Brian, Brandon, Kevin Wei, and Tobi went to Lake Merrit and cleaned for 3 hours. This weekend we are going to fall Rally North! It is an event where we got to Great America and meet fellow key clubbers! You get to spend the day at the park with free drinks and since key club is renting the park there will be shorter lines. It is getting a bit late to sign up but we might be able to pull a few strings, so if you are interested email us back and we will see what we can do. Also be sure to bring around 15.50 for transit and the key club bus that will be heading out from the San Leandro Bart station and extra cash for food at the park.

Weekly Update 4/14

April 14th, 2010 by

Hello all,

Apologies for the brief hiatus. Our officers just got back from the Key Club District Convention in Sacramento! All of this year’s officers (Ashley, Thomas, Frank, Stephen, and Kevin) received awards, so congratulate them when you see them!

On another note: now that the wonderful, earthquake-proof 30’s building is now semi-operational, we’ll be moving to Mr. Marthinsen’s room! From now on, all meetings will be held in room 32. This includes tomorrow.

Upcoming Events

4/17 (Saturday)

  • All Day → Rebuilding Together Oakland - Rebuild old buildings in Oakland and make the city a safer place!
  • Early Afternoon → J. F. Kapnek TrustHelp the J. F. Kapnek Trust unload donations, which will then be sent to Zimbabwe.

Both of these events will be open to members (we will be splitting into two groups).

______________________________________________________________

4/25 (Sunday)

  • 9 AM J. F. Kapnek Fun Run - Help the J. F. Kapnek Trust entertain kids at their annual Fun Run! More information is available on their website.

______________________________________________________________

5/1 (Saturday)

  • 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM Friends of Sausal Creek Native Plant Nursery - Join the Friends of Sausal Creek for an afternoon of native plant propagation, sowing, transplanting, cuttings and maintenance. More information is available on their website.

Community service opportunities are blue for regular events, and green for events that can be used for APES hours.

To learn more about a specific event, email us at officers@piedmontkeyclub.org or drop in at one of our meetings every Thursday at lunch in room 32. More events can be found on our calendar.

______________________________________________________________

Also, be sure to buy Tapioca every Thursday at food service! Tapioca Tuesdays have moved to Thursdays, and are now school-sanctioned! The proceeds will be donated to charity. I hope to see all of you in room 32 tomorrow!

Note: After tomorrow, we’ll be moving meetings to Tuesdays to avoid conflict with Tapioca Thursdays. But don’t worry, we’ll remind everyone again next week.

Hello.

This weekend's event is on 3/6/10 (Saturday) from 9am – 12pm at Martin Luther King Junior Regional Shoreline (Oakland) with Save the Bay San Francisco.  It is where we will be doing all sorts of planting.  The goal is to plant 25,000 native seedlings for the whole community, so this is not the only area where the seedlings are being planted.  For more information, some of the officers will be meeting in room 15 this Thursday.

For the rest of the officers, and interested members, a mandatory meeting in P2 at lunch tomorrow is required by the PHS ASB charter.  Remember to bring some paper, a pencil/pen, and maybe a clipboard for notes.  They will be going over certain rules and guidelines to make sure that current clubs stay active.

Thanks and that's all, hope to see you tomorrow!
